Assessments for violence risk in the autism spectrum disorder population can be complex and lead to misinterpretation regarding potential violence risk. In addition, this presentation will provide information regarding co-morbid mental illness, including psychotic disorders and mood disorders, which may increase violence risk. Through the lens of threat assessment and management, the importance of integrating licensed mental health professionals in the assessment phase to render appropriate diagnoses and to facilitate individualized management plans is essential for effective management.
